In the heart of Apiawoyi, a modest village nestled at the border of Nasarawa State and the Federal Capital Territory, a wave of hope and gratitude swept through the community on Friday as the Women Solidarity Initiative for Development (WOSID) commissioned a new clean water borehole and distributed essential items to 1,000 children and 250 widows.
The event, marked by joy, dancing, and heartfelt testimonies, was led by WOSID’s Founder and President, Chief Marian Nishile, whose commitment to community development has spanned over six impactful years.
“We are here today to give back to a community that has supported us through the years, especially our agricultural initiatives,” said Chief Nishile. “This borehole represents more than water—it symbolizes dignity, health, and progress for the people of Apiawoyi.”
A Season of Giving
Beyond the borehole, the outreach included the distribution of food items, clothing, and household necessities to uplift spirits during the festive season. The gifts, which included staples such as rice, corn flour, garri, palm oil, and clothing like wrappers, shoes, and children’s wear, brought smiles and tears of relief to many families.
Today, I received food, clothes, and even shoes for my children,” said Tina Joseph, a mother of four. “We can now celebrate the season with joy in our hearts. May God bless WOSID for remembering us.
Supporting Women at the Roots
As part of its long-term mission, WOSID also supports rural women farmers, providing them with seedlings, herbicides, knapsack sprayers, and other vital tools during the rainy season. This empowerment not only boosts food production but also gives women a sense of independence and contribution.
Every year, WOSID comes through for us,” said Mrs. Matina Bawa, leader of the Destiny Women Group, which comprises over 70 local women. “We’ve received clothes, shoes, and food. Our women feel seen and valued.
Community Leaders Speak
The newly commissioned borehole was a momentous occasion for the people of Apiawoyi, many of whom had struggled with access to clean water. The Sariki of Apiawoyi, Gaya Shefelo, expressed deep appreciation to WOSID and Chief Nishile:
Clean water has been a major challenge in our village. This borehole will change lives. We promise to continue supporting WOSID in every way we can, especially in their farming ventures.
A Legacy of Love and Impact
Since its inception, WOSID Nigeria Limited has remained steadfast in its vision to uplift women, children, and vulnerable communities. Through strategic outreach, policy advocacy, and direct aid, the organization has become a beacon of hope for many forgotten corners of Nigeria.
This outreach is just one chapter in an ongoing story of impact, powered by compassion, community partnerships, and the unwavering belief that no one should be left behind.
